Spain reports 1,772 new Covid-19 cases
Madrid, Aug 5 (Prensa Latina) Spain's Ministry of Health reported on Wednesday another 1,772 Covid-19 cases, accumulating 305,767 afflicted since the onset of the pandemic.
This number of infected in the last 24 hours reflects a remarkable rise compared to 1,178 recorded on Tuesday and is the highest since July 31, when they reached 1,525 Covid-19 patients.
In addition, the peak of cases takes place in a context of Covid-19 outbreaks in several regions of the country that the authorities are trying to control.
Of the total number of new Covid-19 cases, most of them were from the autonomous community (region) of Aragon, with 614 patients; followed by Madrid (539); and Catalonia, with 146.
In its count on Wednesday, the Health Department released 25 deaths in the last seven days, bringing the death toll to 28,499.
According to the official balance, 636 people were admitted in hospitals within a week (127,670 since the onset of the pandemic in March) and there were 38 admissions in intensive care units, amounting, in all, 11,831.
The most recent data offered by the health portfolio refers that Spain has some 560 active Covid-19 outbreaks, some of which triggered the community transmission of the deadly virus.
