Chilean unions support tax on super-rich
Santiago de Chile, Jul 7 (Prensa Latina) Workers´ United Center of Chile (CUT) and other important unions in the country supported the approval of a tax on Chile's super-wealthy people to help fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
The labor unions launched a campaign called Tax for Dignity, in which they asked the National Congress to legislate to approve this tax in order to promote 'dignified solutions for vulnerable families,' when the health crisis cost has been paid by workers so far.
In addition to CUT, the National Association of Tax Employees (ANEF), the National Association of Internal Revenue Officials (ANEIICH) and the Public Services International (PSI), among other organizations, participate in the campaign.
The unions signed a declaration in which they asked 'to move forward to a tax and social justice, through a tax that allow them to give the Chilean families the dignity they really deserve, without the need for them to continue getting into debt or using their savings to get out of this crisis.'
