Cuba rejects Israel's annexation policy in conflict with Palestine
Havana, Sep 19 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez today rejected Israel's policy of annexation in the conflict with Palestine and called for respect to East Jerusalem as its capital.
In a message posted on his official Twitter account, the head of Cuban diplomacy also denounced the actions of the United States, providing impunity to Israel.
'A just and lasting solution to the conflict in the Middle East must guarantee a sovereign Palestinian state on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital,' he wrote.
This implies responsible action by the US government, which provides impunity for Israel's crimes and its annexation policy, Rodríguez added.
Last July, the diplomatic mission of the largest of the Antilles in the United Nations rejected Israel's occupation of Palestinian territory, its annexation policy and the increase of illegal and colonizing practices and measures.
Through a speech sent to the Security Council of the UN, the delegation denounced violations such as the construction and expansion of settlements in occupied Palestinian territory, punitive demolitions, seizure of resources, forced displacement of hundreds of civilians and the blockade of the Gaza Strip.
The situation worsens amid the Covid-19 pandemic, which causes an emergency situation in the public health system and the depressed socioeconomic and humanitarian scenario in Palestine, particularly in East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip, the document highlighted.
Cuba reaffirms its concern that in the last period measures have not been adopted to end the military aggression and Israeli occupation in Palestinian territory, in accordance with resolution 2334 of the Council itself, he added.
