EU Ratifies Commitment to Preserve Iranian Nuclear Agreement
Brussels, Sep 20 (Prensa Latina) The European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, has ratified the bloc's commitment to preserve the nuclear agreement with Iran, a position that was also confirmed by Germany, France and the United Kingdom.
The pronouncements come one day after the US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, announced a supposed re-imposition of international sanctions against Tehran, something that was denied by the European nations.
In a statement, Borrell recalled that in 2018 Washington unilaterally ceased its participation in the Joint Comprehensive Action Plan (JCP), referring to the Iranian nuclear program, and since then it has not participated in any activity on the subject.
He added that this pact signed in 2015 'continues to be a key pillar of the global nonproliferation architecture, which contributes to regional and global security, while addressing Iran's nuclear program in a comprehensive manner.
