Port-au-Prince, Feb 22 (Prensa Latina) The Haitian transport union will demonstrate in this capital to demand the resignation of President Jovenel Moïse, as announced by the opposition sectors. Demonstrations will once again demand that Moïse respect the Constitution and resign, a request that has been asked since February 7, date on which the opposition sector estimated he concluded his presidential term.
Since then, anti-government mobilizations have increased, especially in Port-au-Prince and other cities including Cap Haitien, Gonaïves, Les Cayes or Mirebalais.
Magalie Lacroix, member of the Popular and Democratic Sector, urged all popular organizations to take to the streets and demonstrate, particularly women.
'We women have suffered too much. Our husbands have died, our children have died. The president uses gangs to kidnap us. Do not stay at home and go out. It is time for Jovenel Moïse to leave,' Lacroix said during a conference press.
André Michel, spokesman for the Popular and Democratic Sector and one of the most hostile opponents, assured that after Moïse's resignation, a transitional government will be implemented, involving the diaspora, political class and the civil society.
