Bolivia’s Electoral Tribunal asks citizens for peaceful elections

La Paz, Apr 11 (Prensa Latina) The president of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal of Bolivia, Salvador Romero, urged citizens to carry out today's elections to define the governors of the four pending departments in a peaceful manner.

‘We ask the voters of La Paz, Chuquisaca, Pando and Tarija to go to the polls respecting the biosafety measures as in the two previous elections,’ the official at the inauguration of the electoral day of the second round.

‘The voting is mandatory as it was during the first on March 7th, we know that Bolivians will go to the polls responsibly,’ said Romero during the act, broadcasted throughout the country via Bolivia TV, among other outlets.

Romero also called on the candidates to wait for the official results with patience and serenity, and he assured that the final results will be in the hands of the people.

The Departmental Electoral Courts have up to a week to close the count, there is a commitment to carry out the count in the shortest possible time, in accordance with the law and respecting the will of the citizens, he said.
