Bolivia’s President calls the country a referent of democracy

La Paz, Apr 11 (Prensa Latina) Bolivia's President Luis Arce, on Sunday deemed his country as a referent of democracy in Covid-19 times, and urged those involved in the elections to remain vigilant in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic.

On Twitter, the president highlighted the realization of the second round of the subnational elections in the country, in which four departments will elect their governors, for which he called for fulfilling the civic duty by going to the polling stations with all the biosafety measures.

The democratic party is taking place in Pando, Chuquisaca, Tarija and La Paz, which shows once again that national political stability is achieved at the polling stations and not with coups d’état, as happened a year and five months ago, reported the newspaper Bolivia.

We show the world that our democratic system is reliable and has above all the support of the people despite the siren songs of fraud issued by the opponents since the victory of Evo Morales in 2005, because they have no real argument or lack of policies to win the hearts of the people, the newspaper added.

However, it noted, the concern in these elections is once again the presence of the Organization of American States, which since 2019 does not enjoy credibility to act as an observer of an election day.

In this election, once again, the Movement Towards Socialism (MAS) is the main protagonist because it participates in the four regions and has the possibility of achieving victories, which would give it the chance of having in its favor seven of the nine governorships, the newspaper stressed.
