China at UN to promote political consensus and solidarity

Beijing, Sep 18 (Prensa Latina) China will advocate at the United Nations on Monday for political consensus, solidarity, and coordination to respond to international challenges together.

The announcement was made by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which also confirmed the presence of Vice President Han Zheng in the general debate of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, which opened on Monday September 23.

“The world has entered a new period of disorder and transformation with increasing instability, uncertainties, unpredictable factors, and growing global challenges,” Spokeswoman Mao Ning said.

According to Mao, Vice President Han Zheng will explain China’s views and proposals on the current international landscape, world governance, and significant global and regional issues.

The senior official will also urge the defense of multilateralism and promote China’s Global Development Initiative (GDI), Global Security Initiative, and Global Civilization Initiative, which are part of China’s vision of a community with a shared future for humanity.

“Han will attend the UN Sustainable Development Goals Summit, the Climate Ambition Summit, and the high-level meeting on the outcomes of GDI Cooperation hosted by China,” the spokeswoman added.

As part of his agenda, the vice president will hold bilateral meetings with the UN Secretary-General, the president of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, and leaders of some countries.
