The historic ties between our peoples, forged by His Majesty King-Father, Norodom Sihanouk, and Cuban leader Fidel Castro Ruz, “are based on mutual values and respect,” Kittisethabindit Cheam Yeap, Acting President of the Cambodian Legislative, stated in a message.
Addressed to the Speaker of the National People’s Power Assembly (Parliament) of Cuba, Esteban Lazo, the letter also refers to the development of bilateral cooperation, including trade, agriculture, health, sports, education, and culture, emphasizing mutual support in regional and international issues of common interest.
Firmly determined to continue consolidating fraternal ties, the release focuses on further exchanges between the two legislative institutions for mutual benefit, while hoping for the continued progress and prosperity of Cuba and its courageous people.
Cuba and the Kingdom of Cambodia established diplomatic relations on April 15, 1960.
According to Cuba’s Ambassador to Cambodia, Milena Zaldivar, both nations commemorate this anniversary with a firm commitment to expanding and strengthening bilateral and mutually beneficial cooperation.
