Saint Kitts and Nevis opens diplomatic mission in India

New Delhi, Apr 8 (Prensa Latina) External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and his counterpart from Saint Kitts and Nevis, Denzil L. Douglas, who is visiting India, inaugurated the Caribbean nation's High Commission in this capital.

Jaishankar affirmed at the ceremony, to which diplomatic representatives from missions across Latin America and the Caribbean attended, that both countries have maintained close and very friendly ties since the diplomatic relations were established.

The diplomat also expressed his confidence that the new resident mission will foster a deeper partnership between India and Saint Kitts and Nevis.

Douglas arrived in New Delhi on a visit that Indian authorities consider a significant step in strengthening ties and expanding cooperation between the two countries.

Official sources stated that India’s relationship with Saint Kitts and Nevis, forged through diplomatic ties in 1983, is expanding through diplomatic, economic, and cultural cooperation.

However, both countries maintain a non-resident High Commission, accredited from Paramaribo, the capital of Suriname, and operate embassies in their respective capitals to further strengthen their diplomatic relations.
