US genocidal measures on Cuba Condemned in Milan

Rome, Jul 7 (Prensa Latina) Italian organizations in solidarity with Cuba condemned "the genocidal measures of the United States against the Caribbean nation" during an event held in the northern city of Milan.

Representatives from political parties, trade unions, youth movements, solidarity groups, and associations of Cubans residing in this European nation gathered at Piazza 24 Maggio to express their support for the island, which is facing an intensification of the criminal US blockade.

Attendees included members of the “Power to the People” (Potere al Popolo) and “Network of Communists” (Rete dei Comunisti) parties, as well as the “Unione Sindacale di Base” (USB) trade union; the leftist youth organizations “Cambiare Rotta” and “Oposizione Studentesca d’Alternativa”; the Agency for Cultural and Economic Exchange with Cuba; and the Committee Against War.

Also present were members of the International Committee for Latin America and the Caribbean, the “Women Against War and Genocide” association, the “Let Cuba Breathe” solidarity movement, and the National Coordinator of Cubans Residing in Italy (Conaci), among other groups. The event was notable for the broad public participation in the initiative—themed “Cuba is under attack. Let’s defend it! No to US aggression”—which continued late into the night with various speeches.

Speakers addressed the effects of the criminal economic, commercial, and financial blockade, as well as threats of intervention.

New actions aimed at strengthening international support for the Cuban people were announced; a highlight was an initiative promoted by “Milano Solidale con Cuba” (a solidarity alliance with the Caribbean nation), which featured artworks by Cuban artists and Uruguayan designer Esteban Isnardi, who is based in Switzerland.

Additionally, a collection drive for funds, medicines, and essential goods was held to help lessen the consequences of the US genocidal measures against the island, the source added.
