India for the first time with over 50,000 Covid-19 cases in one day
New Delhi, Jul 30 (Prensa Latina) India today recorded the highest peak in a single day of the pandemic with 52,123 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the total number of infections to 1,583,792.
However, the number of recoveries exceeded one million, for a rate of 64.44 percent, according to the Health Ministry.
Meanwhile, the number of tests for detecting the disease exceeds 18 million in the country, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research.
The rate of positive cases is 11.67 percent, while the mortality rate is 2.21 percent, the Health Ministry said.
Reportedly, 775 people died from the infection in the last 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 34,968.
The Health Ministry said that more than 70 percent of the deaths occurred due to comorbidities.
Meanwhile, the third phase of freeing up the blockade, which relaxes the restrictions on national closure to stop the spread of the new coronavirus, will begin on Aug. 1, according to new guidelines published by the Interior Ministry.
Only essential activities will be allowed in the containment areas, which will remain closed, and there will be no restrictions on the interstate and intra-state movement of people and goods.
