Haitian professors threaten to boycott back to school
Port-au-Prince, Aug 7 (Prensa Latina) Just days before the resumption of school activities in Haiti, professors on Friday threatened to boycott the reopening of classes and also denounced teachers´ situation.
The National Confederation of Haitian Educators (CNEH) asked its members to carry out a protest starting on Monday 10, set by the government to resume classes.
CNEH criticized that professors´ salaries were reduced up to 50% due to the galloping inflation and depreciation of national currency against US dollar, while the government does not plan to increase fees.
CNEH also denounced that private teachers did not receive any financial compensation during Peyi Lok period, which in 2019 paralyzed the whole nation for two months, nor in the health crisis, despite executive's promises.
