The ’50th Anniversary Day’ program will achieve its peak from October 2 to 5, with the participation of rectors, deans and directors of Research Centers from Universities in several countries with which there are collaboration relations.
The inauguration of the first course in Physical Culture with a university status on October 9, 1973, is taken as its foundation date. In 1976, the center was officially transformed into the Manuel Fajardo Higher Institute of Physical Culture.
The higher education center is the most important in the country in its branch, and most of Cuba’s Olympic and world champions have graduated from it.
The University has branches in the rest of the provinces, where coaches, physiotherapists, masseurs and physical education teachers are trained.
