Warnings of cyber-attacks in Vietnam exceed 20 million

Hanoi, Apr 4 (Prensa Latina) The Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam detected in the first quarter of the year more than 20 million cyber-attack warnings, according to information provided here by Lieutenant General, To An Xo.

The figure was 33% higher than at the same stage in 2023, the ministerial spokesman emphasized, noting that in March these alerts amounted to seven million.

Recently, he said, the network systems of many agencies, organizations, and companies were attacked, with tens of gigabytes of data with confidential content stolen, interface changed, and administration rights stolen.

The senior official explained that 377 people were arrested in the reporting period for their alleged involvement in 605 online scams and the diversion of more than four million dollars from their victims, while the Criminal Police Department prosecuted 42 cases with 252 suspects involved in gambling.

Cyber crimes became very complicated in this first quarter, An Xo commented. According to VNA news agency, he warned that hostile, reactionary, and opposition forces increased their propaganda activities to distort and defame the domestic political situation, trying to crack the country’s unity.
