IMF praises Argentina's deal with creditors
Buenos Aires, Aug 4 (Prensa Latina) The director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, praised on Tuesday the deal reached by Argentina and the creditors for the restructuring of the foreign debt, describing it as a very significant step.
On Twitter, Georgieva extended her congratulations to Argentina's President Alberto Fernandez and to the Economy Minister Martin Guzman, who had been holding talks until late at night, aiming to reach a deal on the final offer sent by Argentina to the bondholders.
'We are looking forward a successful conclusion in the interest of all,' noted the senior IMF official.
Tuesday news in the country brings great relief, aids to get out of default and paves the way for a new economic horizon in a country that urgently needs to get its production afloat, hit harder by the pandemic.
The deal generates great repercussion, which will save Argentina some 33 billion dollars. Economists, entrepreneurs, politicians from all blocs, including the opposition, praised the deal, which some describe as historic.
